(Semi-budget build) Is there room for improvement?

Hello!

I am building a new computer and I wonder if there is any room left for improvement.

Here are the parts that I have chosen as of now:

Memory (costs $110): Corsair Vengeance Red 16GB, 2x8GB, @1600Mhz, CL10
Motherboard (costs $170): ASRock Extreme 4
CPU (costs $290): 3570K
VGA (costs $375): 7950
Monitor (costs $245): ASUS ML239H

Total: $1190
My budget: I wanted it to be under $1000, to be honest. But I also want long-term quality and high quality...

I have a couple years old SATA 320GB HDD, an old but relatively good sound card, an average 600W PSU that I bought recently for maybe $30, an old PC case, a few 80-120mm fans, an old Ethernet card and an old CD-ROM and a DVD-ROM. Those parts, I THINK can be used in the new system without a big hit for performance. I also have a monitor, but I want to move onto the 1080p era, at last.

I am willing to OC as far as stock cooling goes and as far as staying on the safe side goes.

So... Can this build be improved?

welcome to oc3d,
i think i can speak for almost everyone on here. if you are spending that much $$ on a new rig, always buy a decent psu. corsair/seasonic etc. never buy ocz, etc etc. dont skimp on a psu, cos one day you may get hit with a bill to replace all of your gear due to psu failure. i know its tempting to re-use what you got, but is the risk worth it? the choice is yours.

Thanks for the advices. I am planning on upgrading my PSU in 2-3 months to make sure my parts will stay alright. This one is really new so it shouldn't cause any problems until then. :)

It's not how new it is that matters, Never buy a crappy unbranded psu, At least get a CX600 for about $70

Edit : Also I dont have a clue where you are looking to buy these, 3570k for $290 and a 7950 for $376 :O On newegg the 3570k is $300 and the Windforce 7950 only $300

Thanks but I'm not from the US. Prices here are higher. :)

Anyway, I'll try to get a new PSU in a month then.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi, I totally agree, U.S.A prices are much cheaper than the UK. I am going to New York on holiday next year and I will be bringing back as many PC parts as I dare. Cheers
