Scythe Kaze Jyu slim.

Has any one used one of these? They're a 100mm fan with 92mm mounts and are about half the thickness of a regular fan. I ordered one a couple of days back and am just waiting for it to come in. Basically I don't like what I had to do to my Yate fan (on the Noctua) to clear the Dominator ram. This fan will slip down nicely and fit on properly. 2000 RPM and 27 CFM. That doesn't sound great but it's better than having a Yate Loon half covering the fins and looking stupid...

Apparently they're primarily designed to fit to hard drives and come with mounts.. Any one used them before?

Well the stats hardly blow you away

Mind you to be completely fair 27CFM is the same as the Noctua fan that came with the cooler. I just want it to fit on properly. There's a fan on the other side of course (push pull) so I'm not overly worried about the Jyu being enough on its own.

It'll just look ten times better than now and I won't have to remove it to get the ram out.

Well colour me very impressed. Had a bit of a nightmare because I forgot that I had conjoined the wiring from the last two fans to make it neater (and to make them both run from one header) but with a bit of soldering shrinking and so forth it was quite easy. Was very impressed how well the fan clipped on too.

Closer look and you can see it's a perfect fit.

Now I can finally get to my ram without suffering the endurance test of removing the Noctua clips. They're pretty horrible in all honesty. Good once they're on but such a git to get on once the sink is mounted. And temps? Well they haven't changed a bit, still exactly the same as they were. Very happy

looks good you should put the slimline fan on both sides

I think he used the slim one due to the fact that there wasn't enough room between RAM and Heatsink itself. No need to have slim one on the other side, would just hinder the performance more.

TBH Bloomerz I think it performs just as well as the Yate fan.

If anything I could swear I have actually dropped by a couple of C in temps.

But yeah, no point shelling out another £7.50 or so just to make it look tarty.

It is 8mm bigger than the Yate and has twice the ammount of blades.

Any way yes, you're dead right. Before I got it I had to slide the other fan half way up and hang it over the top because it fouled the ram. It also meant I had to remove that fan (a real pig on Noctua clips) just to get to the ram underneath.
