SB safe volts confirmation

So now that i went under water i want to have a new OC on my 2500k, BUT the thing i'm confused about is how much volts i can put through it now that temps are an issue of the past

i've been looking around here and i saw older posts saying that for a 24/7 OC you should use max 1.38v but newer posts say that a safe 24/7 max is actually 1.4v or 1.425v ????

leaving me confused.

next i tried google and apparently intel says its safe to use up to 1.52v but thats obviously TOOO high for a 24/7 clock.

SO can ANYONE provide me with an actual link to some legit site from intel or something that states a max safe voltage for 24/7 use at 100% load.

Until someone awesome on here shows me an actual number i will try to stay under 1.4v but obviously try use the lowest volts for a 5GHz clock (i'm actually running at that, but after like 30min of p95 1 core failed

, and i'm at 1.375v max temp of 63

) gonna try 1.38 then 1.385 then 1.39 but hopefully i don't need to go that high)

water or air no difference mate just cooler under water. Everything I saw always said stay under or at 1.4 for 24/7 use. I keep mine at 1.35 and 4.5Ghz for 24/7 use. I mean except for benchmark scores whats 100-300Mhz gonna do for gaming???

haha well i know water makes a difference only with temps, but that also allows me to jump up from 4.8GHz with 1.335v to the big 5GHz with 1.38v or 1.39v (and still have lower temps

)

and the 200MHz difference will make NO difference in my skyrim gaming

ahaha but it wil increase my PPD cuz i started folding more (like almost 24/7 unless i want to game, then i stop the WUs)

oh almost for got: THANKS under 1.4 will most likely allow me to get this stable, so far 15min in P95 passing everything and at 1.38v temps are still only peaking at 63C but usually stay at 59~61. i'll keep updating untill its stable IMO and then i'll post a screen capture of P95 and OC3D Hadware Monitor

1.4 is what Id say with decent cooling, a little more if on water. But trust me push higher and the chip do degrade.

Ive got a 2600k that did do 5.2ghz... too much raping and now it wont go over 4.6ghz for love nor money...

lol kinda hit the same wall I got 5.3 from my 2600k but cant seem to get back to anything over 4.8Ghz I did the 5.3 on air with the D-14 figured with my loop now i should be able to hit it again with lower temps
sad.gif
but sadly nope.

ok SO i got to 5Ghz at 1.39v and temps after 80min of P95 where max 85C. 65C

also i left the rig on to fold all night and its still going strong, i'll post screen shots when i get home. and you can tell me if it all looks ok

yeah temps are close to the ouch point bro not worth it for a few more ppd's I know you wanna do your part but having it fail early defeats that

OH DAM sorry that was a typo... LOL i would never let it fold at that temp
tongue.gif
i fixed it, with prime it was SIXTY-FIVE degrees max, but now its been folding for almost 20hrs and my MAX core temps are 58,62,60,59

here is the proof

Yup, my 2500k started BSODing at 4.8GHz so I've just dropped it down to 4.6GHz at slightly less voltage. Looks like a small bit of degradation.

so its been 11 days at 5 ghz and everything was fine (had the voltage at 1.39 not higher) but yesterday --> today i kept getting BSODs........ so i dropped it back to my 4.8 at 1.335v which was what i was using for months and months (pratically since i got the chip) but now even that is not stable (and it was a rock before
angry.gif
) folding at 5ghz (even with good temps) must have degraded the chip

my advice would be NEVER go over 1.37v with SB ... man i'm pissed, now i'm gonna have to start again and try to find a good clock with low volts (because i still wanna fold with it whenever i can, but at the same time i dont want any more degredation )

but funny fact at stock a 2500k folding wont go over 45C with WCing
