Sapphire reveal their RX 480 Nitro

I'm looking forward to the reviews on this card and pleased to see an 8 pin connector on it. I wish Sapphire would send Tom a sample of this card ;). When it comes to AMD cards Sapphire always seem to get them right. OCUK will be taking pre-orders soon according to Gibbo.

Looks much better than the silver version. Can't wait for reviews!

The Silver version will be the Toxic sorry I said Nitro earlier which will be higher clocked and cost more according to OCUK

"Black is Nitro: OcUK will be first, I ordered 2000 units yesterday direct with the owner of Sapphire. Nitro is black, 1x 8-pin, OC not yet confirmed but likely to be 1325-1350MHz out the box, runs much cooler, quieter and has really nice backplate.

Toxic is silver: These will come later, be clocked higher, silver and cost more, quite a bit more and be extremely short stocks, probably 1350-1375MHz clocks."

Yes it's a improvement over the silver one, IDK going from a single 6 pin to a single 8 pin i don't think it's going to improve the over clocking tho.

Heard some interesting things about AMD today on TechTalk with Jayz, That AMD could be in some trouble with the RX480.

Prob referring to the power issue.

Should be possible for AMD to rectify via an update. Not a big issue tbh.

So being power limited and giving it more means it won't improve overclocking? Right... extra 75watts won't help.

They won't get in trouble. The way they ship with that power target still keeps them in spec with PCI-SIG standards and they tested it both internally and externally with 3rd party tests. They have the proof and out of the box still complies. It's running at max speed out of the box, OC'ing is not guaranteed and done at your own risk. So if you go beyond what it is capable of(in this case) then it's at your own risk, not theres

I'm not really sure an update can fixed the issue, from what i have learn it's hardware not software.

Just have to wait and see if it starts killing motherboards :p

Update - Gibbo from Overclockers UK has stated that this GPU will be shipping for £249.99 in the UK from their storefront. This is only £10 more than most reference RX 480 GPUs.

- Special Thanks to Tolemac for this extra info.

Can a QNIX QX2710 27" be used with the Sapphire RX 480 Nitro. My monitor only has the single DVI Dual link connector and not DVI. It is said that the QNIX QX2710 27" only works with a dual link, but don't know if this is true.
I know it may be to soon for this to have a known answer. Got a MSI GTX 970 now so it might be better to stay with it ??

The difference a paintjob can make. The card looked dreadful in silver, but quite nice in black, even though i'd still prefer it without the school project style drilled holes design. Still, looks better than quite a few of the RGB transformer cards.

Nope. People ran into most troubles when they tried to overclock it. And overclocking isn't a guarantee. Especially not on a freakin' reference model. Why people expected miracles like Fury level performance from a reference model $200 card is beyond me. And whatever seems to be the problem with power delivery will be fixed with a driver. This is basically a non issue being blown out of proportion. The 480 performs very well for the money.

RGB's tend to be tacky in most cases. And they're irrelevant.

The most elegant and the prettiest card ever made IMO is still the XFX R9 280. LOOK AT IT:

Why can't we get something as simple and elegant as that?

Although the card is nice looking I prefer this any day
