It seems that AGP is still as popular as ever, and so Sapphire has decided to release 2 new cards to fill the void in the low and mid-range market in time for Vista. Feel free to comment on the news article below...

Good pictures - but they be of PCI-e cards :P

Otherwise it is good to know that some people still notice that there are some of us left on AGP :)

Yeah there are still a great number of AGP users out there, myself being one of them, but it is now getting very increasingly difficult to solve a pc setup problem in terms of trying to source good boards using the slot and also combining an even now dwindling skt set like 939.

I think there are still quite a lot of stock of older sockets out there.

It`s an interesting choice to release a new card in agp.

Cool to see AGP still getting some support. I think the manufacturers should release some top of the line cards, but it is not in their best interest.

The PCI-e bridge chip is external from the GPU, but on the cards as far as I know....

Yup, as that section is refering to the x1650s core design, which is natively PCI-e, not AGP (hence the need for a bridge chip)

im suprised everyone hasnt upgraded to pciex by now. or especially when vista comes out.

Dont you need a pciex to use aeroglass?

It's too bad Sapphire didn't put higher end card in to the AGP mix :( It would be nice to see an X1800+ with an AGP variant.

@nawfal: I don't think PCI-E gfx are required, just a card with enough nut to handle the job. X1650 AGP will be able to handle it no probs.

so to support aero you is it just the monitor? its not the graphics card?

what i meant, is that you dont specifically need a pciex card, but you need a new card, and all the agp cards arent they just rereleases of old pciex cards?

I know certain monitors are compatible, because iwanted to buy dell 2405, but it wasnt compatible, so i had to wait until 2407 came out!
