Sapphire 7950 oc voltage

I can't seem to be able to increase the voltage on my card. CCC or Trixx moves it in the scale, but the actual voltage stays the same in GPU-Z and HW Monitor. Do I need to enable bios 2 or??

What 7950 is it? I have read a few people not being able to raise the voltage on the Asus DCII.

Never mind I didn't read the thread title properly.

are you sure you're not moving the power slider, CCC doesn't let you adjust the voltage and the power slider does not change the voltage

Aha, that'll be it. What does the power slider do then? I'll check Trixx again tonight, but I'm sure teh voltage wasn't moving. The new version of tixx has changed the slider from 1000 scale to =/- 20.

It looks like the ULPS setting which needs to be disabled. Done that and downloaded latest TRIXX software that removes the problem. Now TRIXX only has power LI instead of voltage an dthat doesn't change the voltage /sigh

Get rid of trixx and have a go with afterburner:

1. Install afterburner.

2. Edit MSIAfterburner.cfg found in x86 program\MSIAfterburner…

a. Find:

"UnofficialOverclockingEULA

UnofficialOverclockingMode"

b. Replace a. with:

"UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it

UnofficialOverclockingMode = 1"

3. Open regedit, find enableulps and set to 0.

4. Enter AB settings and enable manual voltage control.

5. Clock away and let us know how it goes

Thanks for the help!

The new version of Trixx and disableing the ULPS in regedit allowed me to change the voltage

Afterburner is working fine, however the clock scale only goes up to 1100MHz

I'm using a combo of Trixx for the higher clock scale and Afterburner for the voltage.

Currently 1150 clock, 1450 mem and 1.2 volts. Card is still on Bios 1 and it isn't breaking a sweat. 65C so far with 44% fan speed. Already blown past 7970 speeds and biting the GTX680 heels

Now 1200 clock, 1450 mem and still 1.2 volts. Just smoked a stock GTX 680 and the cards still got legs!

Ha I've never noticed ab has an upper limit, I've never reached it before! I'm sure they will up it with a next revision but I'm glad you got trixx working with it.

The thing about the 7950 is that it seems to push out the same FPS for less clock than either the 7970 or 680. Once you start breaking the 1200 barrier you are beating those cards in performance even when they are over clocked too judging by the reviews I've seen. Can't wait to test it out myself though!

Trixx goes upto 1350 on the clock, so plenty of room there. I'll have to start to increase the voltage from 1.2v though. Have to find the safe upper limit. Card only hits 65C, even with the relaxed bios '1' fan settings hitting 44%.

The Sapphire OC version also has 2 bios's selected with a switch on the board.

thats strange then, perhaps theres another config option you need to change on afterburner

on my 7970 afterburner went to 1125 until i put another BIOS on then it went up to 1500 i think

I'll try the bios 2 setting tonight. It adds a more aggressive fan profile. Maybe it'll add clocking bandwidth on AB. I doubt it though, as Trixx allows 1350.

Well I've hit the limits of the card. There may be a little extra performance with endless tinkering, but this is 99% of it.

Clock 1225MHz

Mem 1725MHz

Voltage 1250 (1.25v)

Max Temps 66 Celcius

Max fan speed 47%

Tests performed in 3DMark11

3DMark11 GPU score=9869, Total P9004. I have an I7 920 at 4Ghz, hence the lower total P score.

3DMark Vantage GPU score=35761

That kicks a GTX680 into touch

and for £315

1st AMD card I've ever owned...

Very nice O/C and good card temp.
