Sandy Bridge E starts at $294

SB-E is only 2011 socket with the x79 chipset

ivy bridge will be 1155

Oh I see...thanks for clearing that up for me.

Ivy Bridge should be expected some time next yr then. Can't wait for Ivy to get released, but also can't wait to replace my current system by the end of this yr. I guess I'll just have to stick with the regular SB CPUs for now.

Since Ivy Bridge supports the newer PCI-E 3.0 and is 1155, all the current boards will be compatible. Probably won't feel a major difference between the SB if one doesn't game or do a lot of benchmarking.

So do you guys reckon ivb E will run x79 aswell just being a smaller fab process

I think so. SB-E hasn't been released yet, but I think it'll follow the same road map that 1155 SB did. I bet IB-E will be the 22nm die shrink of SB-E. I'm actually going to wait for the 8 core CPUs to come out before I buy into SB-E (so I can get a quad/hex core at a reasonable price).

Im saving my pennies for sbE and if ivbE is a gppd bit better ill ebay the flip out of the 3930k for the ivy equivalent. Ive waited too long to wait any longer i told my mum and dad i wanted a new pc when the 8800gt came out the totally b.a. Single slot one. Santa didnt get me a computer. He got me a situp bench. It was the first time i cried at christmas. But yea. Between then and now ive been going to work after closing (boss son. Perks lol) to play with my steam collection. I cant do it anylonger. The pc in work is pretty good 4870 e8500 4gb (slow as flip) ram. So yea. I think three large is worth. Also mum and dad have just commissiond me to build them a new fam pc (bumders) and ive spent more on my wc setup that there entire budget. Lolz

SbE. Its gonna be magical

I'm running a Phenom II X4 955 @ 4.0Ghz on an mATX (Biostar A880GU3) board with the integrated HD4250. I'm getting a new PC instead of a car. There's a Dairy Queen about 20-30 feet away from my apartment. This time around, I'll be less cheap on the motherboard. I'll go for a very nice XL-ATX board and the cheapest CPU available.

id kill for a good daily queen right about now

does that include the quad core?

would read it but meant to be doing college work atm

if it does then i am so buying it and unlocking it to a 8 core (if possible of course)that would be pretty good bang for buck if you could lol

knowing intel heres whats going to happen.. there going to have locked at 6 cores, and then when the b0 revision comes out that produces slightly less heat they will be almost the same cpu but 8 cores unlocked... this may change by then and they may just do ivybridge E and have 8 cores start with 22nm? who knows. AS for the delay last i heard nov 14th but will see

Great

Il grab a 3930K when the stores start to sell them. Im just hoping that Gigabyte will launch a UD7 board that looks like the 1155 and 990fx MB.

Oh, those are really nice looking as well as fantastic performing motherboards. Got to love the gold lining on it too.

If they dont come with that theme, im in deep trouble, and need to sand down and repaint alot. I took a gamble on my project, so im hoping its a win.

I got the norwegian prize for the 3930k. Its 473£, but im sure when all of the companies got this in stock prizes must fall a bit.

I hope it comes out soon so we can see which versions are going to be released and also see more benchmarks. Also is there any word on the Xeon variants? Reason is because I want to see what the evga sr3 is going to look like if there is going to be one, in the mean time I shall see how SB-E performs at LITS, pics to come soon of the system on Sunday evening

Its Intel. they deliver the goods, compared to AMD. Im just going to order it, because im sure that they will satisfy my expectations..

Hopefully the SB-E does deliver improved and even better performance. I hope it's not like what the 1155 was to the 1156 - silent, but quick transition to replace the chips. I think I'll stick to the regular SB CPUs for now, and wait for the Ivy Bridge. Just to be on the safe side. Gigabyte is going for the matte black and gold theme for the most of their top range boards. I think that's great.
