Samsung signs $3 billion HBM3E supply deal with AMD

Unless AMD actually require HBM3E as part of their upscaling or AI push for gaming cards, I don't see them doing it. But if their whole future design philosophy hinges on it in a way the Fury cards did as regards power consumption, I can see it happening.

It will all depend on money. HBM is made from wafers, right? then it all depends how much Samsung are charging them. However, as we have seen? their prices were very cheap compared to TSMC. So you can bet that if it works out cheaper for AMD to stick one on a GPU then they will, rather than buying in yet more product from Micron or whomever else.

That was my point when I said I reckon they will. Purely for cost reasons.
