Samsung confusion

Am looking to upgrade my monitor from a Mirai 19" to a 23" as this size seems to give me the best quality panel within my budget. Have been looking at the Samsung SM2333SW and the Samsung SM2433LW, the latter of which is actually a 23.6" panel so slightly bigger. What I can't understand is that while the specs of the 2 panels seem pretty much identical, apart from the obvious size difference, the larger panel is in fact cheaper at £164.99 compared to £171.98 for the 23". To confuse it even more the cheaper panel also appears to have a better contrast ratio of 50000:1 compared to 20000:1 which I'd assume would mean better colour depth. Am I missing something here?! One thing I have noticed when browsing the net is that lots of people have posted good comments about the 23" while very few people have said anything about the 24" so is there a reason anyone knows about as to why people seem to be giving the larger panel a wide berth? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

You may find one is 1920x1200 and one is 1920x1080 fella?

Ive got a 2433BW for my bench rig/table and tbh for a TN panel its awesome. Samsung dont let you down when it comes to screens imho

I've just bought one as well. Might well go for a second, the 1920*1200 cost a little more, but are worth it in terms of the extra pixels.

Cheers for the comments guys. Am thinking of going for the 24" screen but have just found this ViewSonic VX2433WM as well. Has anyone had any positive/negative experience with these screens, I'm not familiar with the brand? It's just shy of £180, 1920x1080 and has an HDMI socket which the Samsung doesn't.

Ill say 1 thing, I have 4 samsung 24"'s - 3x T240's 1x 2433bw and tbh I wouldnt buy anything else with my own money.

You dont need HDMI unless you need the screen to do the audio too (like a tv) I just use good old DVI

Definitely agree with TTL. Amazon sell the 2433BW for £195, and I think that includes delivery, which is going to be sizeable from overclockers. DVI is the probably best for computer uses, no need for HDMI to DVI convertors unless your PC has HDMI.

Unless you're looking for IPS screens, which you're not at this price, I'd go with samsung

Cheers guys, tbh I'd completely forgotten to look on Amazon. The 2433BW does look pretty good for what I want so think I'll probably end up going that way.
