Samsung CLX-9352NA Troubles

Hello!

Not sure if this is the right place to put this, so apologies if it needs to be moved! It is a networked printer though!

At work we have a Samsung CLX-9352NA MFC printer. It's a bit of a beast! But now is a pain in my backside! Here are the issues:

  • Unable to print multiple copies - Like selecting "Copies - 2" in Word,
  • Scanning is skewed,
  • Printing is shunted into one corner/not aligned,
  • And now the most annoying thing... The alignment utility on the printer doesn't work.

Here's a picture guide of what happens when trying to align it:

The beast...

Pressed "Print Adjustment"

A4

Printed out the adjustment sheet

Placed sheet on scanner (looks like the wrong way but it's not!)

Went to next screen and pressed "Start"

The spawn of satan shows itself...

Things I have tried for each problem:

Alignment Utility Problem
  • Pressed "Cancel" and carried on anyway - Adjustment screen stays open, it scans if I press "Start" but nothing else happens,
  • Retried the process with different size/tray,
  • Turn it off and on again....
  • Gone through ALL other setting menus.
  • Got in touch with Samsung in hoping they would give me the firmware for the printer. They said something about "needing" to send out an engineer. I replied saying that "I am capable of installing the firmware, is it possible to send the firmware to me". They haven't replied since...

Skewed Print/Scan
  • Cleaning/Maintenance off printer (hardware).

Cant Print Multiple Copies
  • Updated print drivers
  • Turned off "collate"
  • Added an IP Port for the printer on the server - WORKED! However, after doing this every time some one prints they get a message saying "Currently the other printer is being monitored".

Any help you can provide would be greatly received!

Cheers,
Joe

Hello!

I was thinking just changing the firmware and a couple of other parts would fix it.

I've been talking to Samsung about this and apparently if I want the firmware, no matter what, I have to get a samsung engineer to come out and install it... I sense this is going to be expensive!

I have the manual and a firmware update program so I know how to install it. It's just that there isn't a firmware file on the Samsung website. So all I need is the firmware for a Samsung CLX-9352NA. But no success in finding it so far :/

The rest of the issues should be fixed by settings on the server and a new imaging unit.

It's Samsung, what do you expect? ^_^
Stellar aftersales I see

Can't Samsung themselves link you the firmware in an email?

The multiple copies thing sounds alot like the driver is a generic windows one/slightly wrong for that printer.

I have tried asking them but they said they need to send out an engineer.

I thought that too. I have tried downloading another driver for it but no luck so far. I was going to just go through all the drivers when I get a chance.

Hi I work indirectly for Samsung and have the firmware if you require it. You may want to look at replacing the pick up rollers for the miss aligned prints.

One thing - the alignment sheet needs to go face down on the scanning bed. I know you say that's the right way, but I really don't think it is.

Since posting this thread 3 different engineers (same company) have come out and replaced parts. This was to try and resolve a shuddering noise that happened when the printer was printing in duplex. 3 Parts and around £300 later and nothing has been fixed regarding the shuddering noise.

They also tried to install the new firmware. Did it, went away and left our printer not working at all because (I assume) the install failed. So I re-installed the firmware correctly. This allowed me to use the alignment utility without the errors, but without any improvement to how the pages were printed. One of the engineers told me about the service/maintenance menu, usually hidden. After going into that and manually changing the alignment until it printed straight, it was all good.

The only thing it still doesn't do is printer copies. I've tried every printer driver under the sun that relates to this printer, but nothing has worked.

The alignment sheet is double sided. In the picture it does look like I'm using it the wrong way round ;) I had tried it round different ways before anyway.
