Space not an issue and I dont want to do raid or go for a WD raptor. WHich one is faster or will they be exactually the same? Just want a speed, performance answer not a price or space one.

Cheers

Have you got a burst , random access and average for a 1tb? the 750gb one does:

Burst 242.5

Average 95.1

Random acces 13.3

Id go for the 1tb just 'cos its 250GB extra. Speed wise they're going to be pretty similar if they're both 7200RPM, decent amount of cashe, SATAII etc. It its purely a storage drive (as say your getting a raptor for OS) then the speed isn't of the upmost anyway, where as capacity is.

Well ive now decided against it after reading reviews. everyone seems to go wrong, good old seatgate baracuda for me again

I got an email about the 1TB spinpoint the other day... Not bad for 100 squids

I was only commenting to some1 in work the other day. These drive sizes have come down in price - I envision a new capacity on the horizon.

For speed go for 1TB, for best bang for the bucks the 750GB obviously, as for pure storage purposes I would grab 750GB, because it is way cheaper...

I have 2 of the 750GB versions - they're about to be RAID'd in RAID 1. Will get some HTtach benchies up when I have the rig built...then we can do some comparisons.
