sup guys. well in work i built a new computer to act as the new server for our business copying over the files sql all that jazz from the old xp unit so i dismantled the old one so it would fit in the bin. i took out the processor (c2d e4500) and washed the tim off it with window cleaner and have touched the underside of it. heres where the problem starts after building the new rig the company that maintain the software tell me that they are going to charge me £650 quid to do the sql shufty about. so i craped myself for a few hours then the guy said if i put the old one back together and use it as a dedicated server and the new one as a client. so the cpu. is it buggered. if i dry the flip out of it and boot without a heatsink just to see if it is alive and will she be ok to fight another day. i have to do this in work tomorrow so i am crapping myself

It should be fine. Don't boot without a heatsink though.

As for that charge...holy crap! Can't you restore the SQL database yourself? That's one hell of an exorbitant fee for such a small job.

Yea man its nuts i didnt think it would be a big deal. The guy i called said it was easy. But aparently it is a complex system. Im saying bullcrap to that. So i cant boot even for a minute just to see if its alive???
