Hi guys. I got the i5-750 and I thought I'd try and set my voltage to the max that Intel says is safe (1,40V) and see how high I can get my CPU frequency. I've always wanted to have 4,2GHz which I was able to get with 1,411V which was pretty satisfying. But the temperatures concern me. I'm thinking that it's not a big deal because I'll never hit those temperatures with normal use and gaming. So my max temperature was 81c-77c-73c-74c. Pretty high, I know. I got those temperatures after five rounds with IBT. (Intel Burn Test.) (Oh, and by the way, I don't think my thermal compound is perfectly applied, so if I apply it over again I think I can get my temperatures down a couple of degrees.) So do you guys think that is safe? And when I sat my voltage to 1,40V in my BIOS it was actually set to 1,411V. Is that a big deal? I bet it's not like my CPU will fry at anything above 1,40V, but it's better to be safe then sorry, right?
I'm going to see how far I can get if I get an okay from you guys.
I'll post CPU-Z validations for each "step" up I can get, so if you're interested in those, keep an eye out. I don't think I will be able to get much higher then what I'm at now, though.
Edit: Something weird has happened. HW Monitor Pro says that my temps are at the moment 72c-70c-65c-68c which is significantly lower then what they were my first IBT run. Do any of you guys have any idea why that might be? Oh, it just said my over clock failed. I'll give it another try. Something weird happened there. But I bet it's not stable.
