Sabertooth Or Maximus VI Formula ?

Building a gaming rig for a family member and it's between the boards in the title, Cannot decide between them, Personally I've had Sabertooth boards since they were first introduced and currently have the Z87 variant and love it.

Now the family member I'm building the rig for already has a sound card, Something from creative, The ZX I believe, So the onboard sound will not be used at all and neither will the inbuilt watercooling option for the VRM's.

Price difference of £50 aside, Which one gets the vote ?

You're such a noob :p

I'll say Sabertooth then cause it offers all the features that he needs and 'saves' him £50.

Obviously the Maximus VI Formula, I mean it's not exactly a rational decision to go with either of them so why not go for the one he really wants. Can't be an Asus fanboy and not appreciate ROG, besides it looks the dogs.

Thanks for the recommendation :)

BOth are very good and if you are thinking of going AMD then a Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 AMD 990FX with a AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 Black Edition 4.00GHz is a good way to go as overclocked you can still get to 5ghz if you get a good chip but the biggest plus is that you will save over all about £200 to £300 as this will be the difference on build cost with the
Maximus VI Formula which is again a very nice board and you would be better of using the on board sound that's integrated as it has some nice gaming features with a lot of things are you just paying for the name or are you really getting your moneys worth and i do feel with the ROG you are getting your moneys worth the bios is nice and if you wanted some bling with some use then a asus front base is worth it and if you want to water cool later the option is there with adding the loop onto the MB

Reply is much appreciated bud but I'm not exactly new to the enthusiast community ^_^

Ended up giving the family member my Sabertooth Z87, Selling my 2nd Sabertooth that was in my HTPC/Folding rig and buying the M6F for myself ;)

I didn't mind the looks of the Sabertooth to be honest, Kind of reminded me of the Christian Bale Batman Movies ^_^

Lol yeah, now that you mention it :p What other components would go with that colour scheme though if you're not braiding/modding stuff yourself? (asking because I'm considering the Crosshair, but wouldn't mind saving some cash actually).

Anything black, Black and red or black and green, Any other colors don't really go with it to be honest IMO.

I dunno, I just can't see anything with black in going with the PCB of the Sabertooth; bearing in mind I have a 970 chipset Gigabyte motherboard with a blue PCB with bright orange Bitfenix Alchemy extensions right now

I don't have a clue what possessed me to get orange Bitfenix Alchemy extensions lol, needless to say, I want a black PCB ASAP

A black PCB is the way forward my friend ^_^

In all honesty if you can make a blue PCB work with the correct colour scheme then great but I haven't seen it pulled off with success too many times.
