So I just got my new mobo a few days ago. And I am having some problems with it. ALL but one sata port works SATA 0 to be exact? I have 2 hard drives i need hooked up and only my boot drive, which is NOT supposed to be in either SATA 0 or 1 is the only one that works. I am not convinced anything is broken, because my Disk drive works in all the ones my HDD does not. Someone help, i have been hearing things that this is either an SB960 problem (which could be updated with a BIOS fix) or an ASUS problem. But as stated before, my CD drive works in all of them.

funny how almost everyone says theres no diff between sata cables but I have found it to be somewhat untrue as well. This is what I have found sata 1 cables are best left in the bin sata3 is backwards compatible with sata 2 but sata 2 on a sata 3 drive and port dont always work.

I just thought it was weird that SATA 3 does not work in SATA 6? Or is it a MOBO thing? I should stop jumping to conclusions, technology is moving to dam fast!!! Its a butt load of work just to keep up with it.

slight confusion over labelling:

some drives are labelled sata 6Gbps, when they are sataIII

and they are now calling sataII... sata 3Gbps

it is to try and out-witt consumers by getting them buying up old sataII stock

I solved this issue by simply buying 7 sata 6GB or sata 3 however ya want to lable it. Cables for all my drives lol 2 sata 6GB ssd's 4 sata 6GB hdds plus my opti drive this way they all match and I dont have any issues lol the only items running off of sata6GB ports are my ssd's and my opti drive as my UD4 only has 4 sata6GB ports 2 per controller and 4 sata 3Gb shared with 2 sata6GB on the Z68 controller (ssd's and hdd's) the opti is on the marvel controller

come on now Duggy you know he meant sata 3GB/sec and Sata 6GB/sec they do really need to hammer down the terminology so pppl dont make mistakes lol

i have noticed these misleading specifications on many websites - as i have said before, i think they are trying to confuse noobs into buying up old stock
