S939 X2 Cooler

Hello, in my growing pile of stuff, I've a decent motherboard with an X2 4200 in it. I'm looking for a decent cooler for it, as it used to be watercooled and I haven't got an air cooler for it.

I'm not going to overclock it much, if at all, so I'm considering the Freezer 64 Pro, or Thermalright Ultra 90, both of which are under £20 and can be reasonably quiet whilst still being pretty adept on the cooling front.

I guess they'll both fit the motherboard (MSI Neo4 IIRC), so anyone had any experience that may be relavent?

TR Ultra 90 is a great choice for that processor. Always trust TR for quality cooling products. Looks like you can get a good deal on em now too, probably the best cooler for the money.

I have the Freezer Pro 64 and it's a awesome fan. I OC'ed my 4000+ to 2.8GHz and on the stock cooler load was hitting 55 never seen the temp go over 41c

My vote's for the Ultra 90, the XP-90 has served me well.

Yes, i loved the old TRight SLK copper lumps, I've an SI-97 for socket A that wasn't so impressive but under £20 is OK, plus the TRight stuff just looks better.

Anyone want the SI-97?

The freezer looks a little flimsy, but the price is so tempting...

The SI-120 has my vote. It's sat on my 939 rig at the moment(phase is on Intel), with a 120mm fan on it does the business up to 2.9gig 1.5vore @ 51c under dual Orthos load. With the added advantage that it cools the ram as well.

I am using a Freezer Pro on my Opteron 165 overclocked to 2.5Ghz and under load it reaches around 50 degrees. However I am thinking of getting the Scythe Ninja Rev. B so that may be another option for you...

my vote goes for the ultimate 939 cooler of all time, the XP-120

another amazing thermalright cooler

also the XP-90c is a damn fine cooler

People have a lot of cooler preferences, but at the end of the day it all depends on your case, layout and motherboard...
