Running for as cheap as possible

After giving up on the beasty antique "time machine" ive decided to get the sempy running again, just for my sister with her msn and bebo habits  Gotta keep her away from my pc!

I doubt she'll do much graphic intensive stuff but just in case she decides to get the sims or any of those boring games  it needs to be prepared to run it as i dont want her saying "Sam, my pc wont run it...can i use yours:nono: "

So ive still got

  • Cheapo 400W psu which seemed to run pefectly last time
  • Asrock k7vt4a+ motherboard
  • Sempron still attached to heatsink on the motherboard, inside the old case :p
  • and of course the old case...

So i'm right in thinking i need an agp card sims 2 capable or similiar

Some ddr ram - 512mb or 1gb?

A hdd, large enough for a couple of games, some music? I could make my pc the server or something :D

A cheap lcd monitor? Mebbe use this one although i've promised to sell it for £60 to a friend

Im sure i can sort out kb and mouse

Thanks for recommendations as they are gratefully accepted

512mb is sufficent for everyday use of XP. As for graphics cards a 6200 (non-turbocashe) would do the job and run any of those games. 80GB hard drives were on scans today only for £27 too.

Changed the HDD to a seagate 7200.9 as i really like my 7200.10 and 160gb was a bit too much for £10 extra!

Its £100 total now:

Albatron GeForce 6200 128MB DDR TV-OUT/DVI (AGP) - Retail

Corsair ValueSelect 512MB PC3200 DDR400

LG 52x32x52x16 Beige Combo Drive DVD/CDRW - OEM

Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 IDE/100 80GB 2MB Cache - OEM

Deffo ;)

Gonna take apart the old cpu etc. when im not busy revising for my damn german speaking exam...BOO!

OK, ordering soon, specialtech can get:

Asus 128mb Radeon 9250 AGP GPU 24.19

Adata DDR333 512mb CL2.5 25.89

Liteon DVD Rom 16x Black 11.90

Maxtor 80gb IDE 27.95

with socket A Sempron 2600+ and Asrock k7vt4a+ and a Cheap 400w psu capable of running previously...

huh? should be good enuf for sims 2
