hi ever one i have a ddc5 pump and its a little to lound and i would like to no if i can drop the volts from it as in i no its running at 12 volts at the moment but i would like to no is could i swap the 12v and 5v molex cable around will it be safe will the pump still run like normal just not as fast thanks

A DDC5 pump? Do you mean DDC, or D5?

You can just swap the cables round yes and it should work fine. Maybe try 7v first?

Keep an eye on temps

Rewire like so:

Right ok I will give it ago tomorrow is it safe as long as temps don't go too high if this does not work what els would sort it

Ps

Could it be louder because I have my res and pump as one ??? Or is it just the pump

Changing the speed of my D5 has very little effect on temps, so just keep an eye on it.

That could add vibrations and make it louder with a DDC yes. You would have been better off with a D5 vario tbh.

Yes I know it will...
Not really hard to work out what you need to do from the diagram though...

You currently have both your cables at one side:
ie: (X indicates a cable)

1 - 2 - 3 - 4
X - X - 0 - 0

Move the cable at '2' to '1', and move the cable at '1' to '4'.

Right ok so just swap the cable around

Nope it made it really quiet but temps went over 80c so I'm putting back but how do I make it 7v with just the too cables I have or should I change the wires around the power supply

You could try a manual fan controller? Like one that lets you set the voltage at anywhere between 0-12v.

Another idea.
I was thinking of putting my pump in a soundproof box or something when i do my build. Something like a small plastic box with sound deadening material inside.

If you buy the right pump in the first place, that really isn't needed tbh.
My D5 is bolted directly to a fan - no dampening whatsoever, and it's still completely inaudible.

It shouldn't be hard just to rearrange the cables. What were your original temps? I'd be very surprised if they shot up that much after going from 12v to 7v... Maybe you did something wrong so the pump wasn't running at all?

It was just an idea if i thought it was too loud as i have no water cooling experience. I've not even seen a loop in person.

If you set them up fine, then they're usually alright.

I run my D5 at the lowest possible speed and it's fine. It only really needs dampening properly if there's a need to run it at the maximum speed - which you'd only need to do if you're using several blocks. I have no flow issues on speed setting 1 of my D5 with 2 blocks and 2 rads.

Just find somewhere sturdy to mount it and you should be alright.
