Router trouble

So for a good while now ive been connected to my belkin Wireless ADSL router. All was good, then one night we had a thunderstorm. So naturaly i stayed in, and played CSS. Problem being that at totaly random times and for totaly random times, the router cut off my connection to my ISP. Odd i though. But continued playing on my todd with bots.

Now, every time there seams to be the slightest lick of thundery weather my connection has a fit. Connecting and disconecting liek theres no tomorrow.

Now i know that its these storms that are casuing it and the router is the problem as the USB modem my ISP supplied worked fine when the storms are causing havok.

So, anyone had an experiance like this? Any ideas why my router is illergic to bad weather? Anything i can do to fix it?

Hopfuly this won't turn into a 'recomend me a new router' thread but atm im out of ideas

Not that i know of. the router isnt dying. Its just killing the connection.

try diff filters

try the connection of a diff socket

try a different router or just a plain modem

if those dont work, get ur ISP to run a line test

wierd routers can become wierd maybe reset it to defauts and reconfigure it and look for a flash even if its same flash could fix it if the firmware got corupted because of the storm. I had my 54usr flashed for 6 months then it became crazy i reflashed it and working fine now knock on wood.

Hrmmm, wierd case. Sounds like that one night the electrostaticness of the air alone may have fubarred something.

I'd definately try a BIOS flash.

I might try a bios/firmware flash/upgrade. But i have a feeling my old man may have tried that.

Is it possible that the static in teh atmosphea(sp?) is interfearing with the wireless's radio wave, confusing it and therefore its shutting off the outbound connection?

Have you checked the routers log for abnormalities or Windows event viewer? You may also have some heat issues Ham. Have you seen any mention of 'Keep alive' or MTU settings in your routers configuration?

i have had this problem before caused by a storm. as weird as it sounds, i left it unplugged for a couple of days then it just worked. cannot explain how or why...

Yes that is quite possible.

Well, a firmware upgrade did about as much as poking it with a large stick.

You're playing cs over wireless? well firstly it's best to try it with cable and see if it has the same problems. My guess is that it's something like the wind blowing your line around, and aggrovating a poor connection somewhere.

No, i have a wire. My sis' laptop is the only PC on the wireles. And if it was the lines the usb modem would cut out aswell.

Someone Explain the difference in PPoE & PPoA? And which one i should be using? As thats my last hope. If that dosn't work ill officaly open the 'recomend me a new router' floodgates.

It should be PPoA. Belkin are pretty **** anyway. It could be the line, if the modem gets less noise than router, it wouldn't be affected so much .

My Belkin's been ROCK solid. No problems at all

i had the same problem and all i did was buy another router and all was good.
