was thinkin about gettin myself a rotary tool for doing case mods so save me messin about with just a drill and hacksaws

anyone recommend one for me and the accessories i would need to go with it?

cheers

If you want a quality one, then it's a Dremel you want. Other than that you can pick up a cheap one from Maplin like I did just to mess about with.

its not for serious mods just one to mess about with and mod the odd case to fit my needs (like more cable management holes etc but it wont be anything on a big scale but i dont want it to be a real crap cheap one

i did look at the dremel but they are pretty expensive and a bit more than i can afford atm

Go to Maplin, they have plenty to choose from, but if you only want a few drill bits at first, I'd spend most of the limited budget on the motor body from a Dremel bundle with less bits. You can buy more as you can afford them. The extra bits with cheaper bundles also tend to be lower quality along with the drill body.

Here's another Rotary where it pays to buy the best one you can afford [the tree is for carbon offsetting]

Thanks, just the Lockwood grilles to protect the coolers. Nearly all the budget went on getting a 2yr old one for the oem warranty. However my PC budget for mods has lost out to the fuel tank on the 8.

cheers dudes im not lookin to splash loads on one a dremel with few accessories is like £45 im just lookin for one for at the top £20 cause at the moment its only really for cuttin cable management holes

In the USA I had a Dremel. It was OK. By OK I mean every few hours I would need to stop, unplug it and tighten all the screws because they used to work loose and it would buzz loudly.

So I brought a Black and Decker Firestorm model (this was Stateside however). It was bloody brilliant. Had an awesome quick release mech built in so no buggering around with that silly small spanner. It also cost half that of the dremel and was far more substantial and had a lovely rubber grip.

Ah yes here we go.

See if you can find one in the UK. The red switch comes back and you pull a lever that locks the chuck.

I checked for you, it's U.S only :(

The gutting part? It's $28 or so so about £20. And when I say kicks crap out of a Dremel I mean just that. I even used the bugger to cut the Cosworth vents into my cars bonnet. A real tough bastard.

black and decker US only?????

check focus,homebase or B&Q

they sell lots of B&D

Yes but not the firestorm rotary. I guess that Dremel had too much of a head start here in the UK for them to bother.

From looking around it appears not sadly. I put black and decker rotary tool into google and the only one it found was the one pictured and nothing in the UK :(

It sucks because I have a full set of spare plastics for a Pred 2. And I would like to put some logo windows in and paint them AMD colours. But I'm not a big fan of actual Dremels.

well my uncle and aunt are up and said to be if i want a dremel i can get one for my b-day so all is good going to b&q to get one 2moro :)
