Has anyone used this? I have an ageing iriver H10 20GB (Still a solid player tho- nobody made mp3/mp4 players to irivers spec back in the day).
Anyway basically last week it started crashing at random, sometimes when i was browsing songs it would just freeze, and i'd have to do paperclip reset on the button. I got the player back in 2005/6? And it had sometimes had a problem with crashing after it was turned off, but usually only once ever few dozen hours of listening, it was easy enough to paperclip it at this point- (carried one in my wallet LOL).
When I first got the H10 I tried a really early iriver build of Rockbox and thought it was complete rubbish, I was a big n00b and found it tricky to navigate and probably didn't install it properly. I remembered rockbox this week however and decided to put it on to see if it was any more stable than iriver's own firmware (I think the the database had become corrupted or something).
They are now on build 3.1 stable and it is AMAZING! It's 1000s times better than the original firmware, and adds tonnes of apps, games and even video support despite the player not having it originally! I can used the H10's built in mic to record 44.1KHz WAV files which sound incredible, or record high quality Stereo FM straight to the HDD! (could do these before but was limited to 128kb/s mp3)
It has given my H10 a new lease of life and I am well chuffed tbh
I would recommend it to anyone- they also do builds for iPods too.
