Ye pretty much mate.

I managed to get the 630's PI time down to 28sec, i'm loving the onboard sound on the Abit AW8 and Windows is 10x more responsive than with my AMD - so for the moment, i'm gona be rocking a pressy

Sweet, at least your sorted for the time being. That's a really repectable Pi score too mate

Yeah I found that going from a single cored AMD to a dual cored AMD made windows much "whizzier"....I know your 146 was 3GHz+ but dual cores are lush for general/power use

Nononon, i was jhaving some problems with motherboard headers runing at 5v, and realised that Silverstone had wired one of my modular cables up back-to-front.
