Hi after startup chkdisk runs when completed everything freezes any ideas,running windows xp pro

Hey, iv just this minute fixed a very similar sounding problem. Access the Bios if you can, reset it using the CMOS jumper on your Motherboard if you cant. Then try to either find an option relating to the problem, or reset the fail-safes / defaults and just go through and change the ones that are neccessary

Seems high c.p.u or memory settings. Try what llwyd suggested and see if you can get into windows with default bios settings if you can post back. Can you also post your computer spec
