Hi there OC3D!
I have a suggestion :D
After using some other forums for a while, I noticed they had +Rep buttons. Even other forums which where on vBulletin.
Do you guys have something like this in mind?
And what do you guys think?
Cheers!

We used to have + and - rep, but after the board was updated (then reverted) we haven't had it since.
Makes no difference to me personally whether there is +rep or not to be honest.
I had quite a high rep when we had it, but it doesn't bother me that it has gone. If you stick around you get to know who knows what they are on about and who doesn't anyway, so rep doesn't really matter.

A thanks button would be better I think, so rather than giving rep, saying thanks to a post that helped you, or provided you with good info would be better.

Just my opinion, each to their own though :)

+1

haha :D

I agree, I think thank buttons are good also as it shows people if a thread/post they posted was useful and also who thanked them for it.

Yeah, you either love it or hate it :p
But to me, it adds value to the forum and it adds motivation to stay active.
Of course, I'll always stay active at OC3D, it's become a part of my life the past year :D

i don't really care about it, we have our regulars here and i know who knows what he is talking about. seems like an e-peen thing to me.

Good point :p
I agree, we have our regulars here!
It's always nice to have more features on a forum though :p
But then again, OC3D is an awesome forum which can do without rep :D
EDIT: 1100th post!!! :D

It was a cool thing to have, but i'm not sure if we'll be getting it back.

Although the regulars know eachother, and know who to listen to, the majority of advice questions come from new members who could find it helpful to know who's got a lot of good rep.
But we get along well without it, and the majority of posters know what they're on about anyway.

I think it would cause disruption since new members would always value a high rep individual's opinion over a lower one, regardless of who's actually correct.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke ;)

Agree, forums are doing just fine without rep/like/thank buttons imo. And if you really need a system like that to keep you active then.. well, you shouldn't be active just for the high points/rep ^_^

This came up a few months back. I still don't think it's a good idea. Just causes Ego fights.
Sorry.

this can also hurt someones rep badly, just imagine a spambot downvoting all the regulars...it really is just a pointless feature with more cons than pros.
