Replacement GPU

The only reason i was consdering the 660 is that it only needs ONE 6PCIE connector. So in time i could easily upgrade to a second one. But the AMD cards are just so much nicer looking :(

The 270 you linked only requires one 6 pin as well... In fact all 270s due. All the 270x's come with an extra PCIE port. Also a 270 is a tad faster than a 660.

The one that squid linked the gigabyte version uses TWO PCIE ports, so I only need to use the one? the other i assume is for the extra volts for overclocking? I know that the 270's can be overclocked to perform aswell if not better than the 760's

KFA are also known as sparkle in other countries. They're supposedly really good for RMAs (I believe that this is the company which has their RMA place for europe in scotland) however Sapphire are really on a role with 'cards as of late so that would be my choice.

Hey Anazarr! With Powercooler i don't know 100%, but from what i did read the RMA can be a nightmare, you should check it out/google but i personally would not from reading a bit into it. Also this is only in the situation of it going wrong. For £10 extra though i would probably go for gigabyte for piece of mind (i was looking at that same card a few weeks back when it was on offer) There are a few sites that have some RMA info for graphics cards. The ones that aren't so great usually take upto a month/6 weeks to rectify a problem, GIGABYTE as far as i know had a turn around of about a week, but ofc that is subject to change.

I'll have to try and check out KFA, although i've never been a big fan (arf arf) of reference type coolers. Anyways, i hope this helps man!

I can only offer advice, the decision is yours to make which ever way you choose, at least you've narrowed it down to a 270 or 660 though :)

Yeah thanks, I am just thinking of getting one with a 6 pin, so i may go for the little more expensive 270 with just the 6pin and i know that sapphire are good as my mate swears by them.

That's cool, i have a sapphire in my rig currently that needs upgrading aswell ;)

I'm mainly talking about RMA's as i've recently been looking into the companies etc... if you want to go for the Sapphire that's cool, no worries!

Also, there is the MSI 270 on scan for about £130:

One slight concern, with that is that i read on another few forums of the bearings in the fan leaking oil/fluid around the shroud and even the motherboard! But they said it was a bad batch, but we don't 100% know what stock would be sent out from any retailer. Otherwise i would of said MSI card aswell... It's just me being paranoid :p

I understand your concern Squid. The only reason im steering away from the 660 is that the 270 can overclock to as good as it's bigger sister (760). I think the sapphire card look the deal, and i know can overclock well with decent temps. I will just have to get something that goes in my rig well and performs the deal. Thanks for all your help! Big thumbs up!

EDIT:
Just looking into it, the Sapphire version needs two 6pins aswell. The powercolor is the only one that requires just 1 6PCIE. Everyone says that they only require one 6pin, but further look into the pictures etc that they all have two 6 pin slots? Making me assume, i have to use them.

No worries man! I'm sure that any of those cards mentioned will be great for you! For the price the 270 is pretty hard to beat, with the next step up/cost being the 760 (£180+) or the 280x/770 (£240+) For the price difference from the 270/280 it is a great performing card for the money. Hope it helped and you make the best/right choice for you man! :D

If you do go for the MSI, yeah it would be best not to void the warranty :p (but MSI warranty is not too bad from what i heard) Also just to be cautious, check under the shroud every so often because if any oil leaks it will be RMA time (and after time probably a fan failiure, so 100% RMA)

Apart from that though, the MSI card is very good. It's just a shame with a few batches doing that.

and example would be...

(The first year of warranty should be with the retailer... possibly even two years if you mention the Sales of goods act, plenty of people have bought all of these makes and no doubt work fine, it's just me looking over my back :p)

I just want something that's powered by one PCIE so that i don't have to upgrade my PSU anytime soon ( but im thinking of doing that anyway ) - If i decide that i know im going to upgrade PSU, i'll for sure go for the gigabyte version. It's all black, very good cooler, great RMA. Thanks for everything squid!

No worries! Just make sure aswell you have enough volts on your 12volt rail of the PSU, as i've never heard of a POWERCOOL. I hazard a guess it's not great, if you do go for a PSU, i could suggest SEASONIC (500w+) XFX (although good PSU, RMA can be a nightmare) or some CORSAIR (the ones to go for mainly are the OEMS of SEASONIC) As an e.g the SEASONIC 520w is around £50.

I can't say for certain if the 270 can take just one 6pin, so probably best to google that up i think ;) Anyways, i hope it helped man!

If you care about noise in the slightest I urge you not to get a powercolor 270. They are very loud and run very hot in my experience.

If a GTX 780 an fun fine with a 450watt PSU(as tom showed in his recent Rushkit video) then i am pretty sure your 550watt PSU will run a 270/270x just fine.
