replace fan geforce

Hi all. Has anyone busted open a geforce to try to replace the noisy fan with a quieter one?

I haven't tried it my self but you could always pick up a 3rd party cooler or try and find a stock cooler for your card on fleebay, which gpu are you using?

Its just a 550, nothing special. Its not failing at all, but since I just stuffed everything into a nice, new, raven r2, well, its a tad loud. So, thinking of pulling off the shroud and tinkering a bit to see if I can remove the fan without messing the board up.

You could just download the latest version of msi afterburner and set a custom fan profile

I did think of that, but its not going to make that fan quiet enuff... its just purty darn loud. So, I figure I'll just take the card apart carefully and see how its hooked up and wired, then replace as I can. If I think it will work I'll take pics.

well, the new job is just eating me alive... I haven't even tried yet. I just get home and try to gain my life back before Monday. I almost miss being poor now.
