Reinstall OS After a Mobo Install?

My brother just got a replacement mobo and the MBR messed up. My friend asked me would it do the same to him as he is getting MSI 870A Fuzion mobo?

Also, can you tell me why it messed up.

New board, new CPU, new RAM. Prob new graphics too I think but that might come later.

I would imagine you might get an MBR missing error if your new mobo bios doesn't have the correct OS disk in it's boot list, otherwise shouldn't be a problem.

I'd recommend creating or downloading a Windows Repair Disk iso to run bootrec.exe. That'll sort out your MBR problems.

To be honest, it was a replacement board for a core 2 quad so it was a cheap ass board, so your prob right.
