Alll water is recycled.

Meet the water cycle

[/done being a smart alack]
I know what the water cycle is mate, I was taught that in grade 2. What I'm talking about is extracting water from effluent, and 'purifying' it for drinking purposes. I mean, we have a catchment about an hour from my place called Wivenhoe damand its capacity is greater than that of Sydney Harbour which is massive and one of the largest catchments of it's type in the world. Currently Wivenhoe's water levels are at an astonishing 19% capacity, so something needs to be done quickly. But I'd much rather convert salt water into drinking water, than have to drink recycled body waste.

I'm sure once I get past the gag reflex I'll be fine...it'll open up a myriad of exciting culinary delights :D

I was only kidding. Who doesn't know what the water cycle is?

Meh, it's fine Peeves. I guess I'm lucky enough to live in a town/suburb which gets its water mainly from the ground. (But then again, I live in the town in which IBM was founded and the original building(s) reside here. Why is that bad? Chemical spill (TCE?) in the late seventies which is linked to some birth defects in families who live in "the plume." (area where the ground is saturated with that chemical, and vapor from it seeps into basements of houses.))

Think of all the fish poo and industrial waste that has been pumped into the sea ;)

Crikey, that sounds real bad Nick. Have IBM been hauled over the coals for the chemical leeching?

Yeah but fish don't eat curry and get the runs, or have to poo after a big night on the booze. They eat seaweed and shellfish etc, but I understand what you mean :D

:O I live in the North east so we dont get these problems I actually like our tap water (some areas not tasting nice)

browney know what you are saying but isnt redcar just down the road with that famous chemical factory.? and loads of people with slight problems

The idea of recycled water is kinda freaky to me, but only because of the concept, if it is chemically indistinguishable I don't see a problem. Also I read that the output of a septic tank or cesspool is safe to drink after passing through only a foot of soil.

I have a well on our house so no problems here but recycled water is completely fine. It tastes better than bottled water to me, and i was paid 5 bucks to try it lol. Nothing beats my well water though. Not only is it 1500 feet into REALLY soft water, but we have a water softner too with built in water filtration.

essex used to be a hard water area but over last 5 years its improveed greatly. I have no complaints here

The problem with drinking bottled water is becasue it is clean...

Tap water gets nutrients put in it to keep us healthy...

People who soly drink bottled water don't get enough nutrients.. therefore not as healthy! ;)

I`m not so sure it`s healthy to drink water from the tap, probably safer to have a smoke. But they`d not tell u that, who`d pay for the sue-age ? (nice pun).

Water water all around aye.

Biggest solution to Africas problems would be to pick an equatically-parallel line and dig a trench from the Atlantic to the Indian. Never happen, then again they`d find one way or another to still not irrigate the lands. Mankind cannot have started there, I don`t care what peoples say. I doubt we`d`ve evolved at all.
