Recycled water

Well some of you lads may or may not know that Australia is smack bang in the middle of the worst drought seen in 100 years. I cannot honestly remember the last full day of rain that we've had here in Queensland.

Now, the QLD State Govt is proposing a referendum on using recycled water...i.e recycled poo and wee. I have also heard that the UK currently use recycled water, what I want to know is to what extent? Do you drink it, do you wash in it or is it purely for Industry? I know that the waste has been purified and treated, but the thought of it makes me want to vomit. I just can't imagine drinking water that has come off someone elses bum nuggets, especially after consuming some vast amounts of Indian curry the night before.

Feel free to correct or inform me of the status quo please.

In cities it's treated to hell then put back in the system afaik. Prob best to just not think about it...

Living in the middle of no-where mine comes straight out a giant puddle, through a couple of rocks and into the tap...

6 people ROFL, now I'm really afraid. Do you use it just to top up existing town water supplies etc?

Not 100% sure tbh. I think it's mainly used in the bigger cities where there isn't enough water in the reservoirs

Ah bliss, what I'd give for fresh water coming from there.

Ok then mate, thanks for that. I was wondering whether the Govt may have been feeding us a little :bs:

Have to laugh really cos nearly all teh water in the UK is recycled , whether it be from the bath or elsewhere. what is really funny is that it scores better than bottled water once its been treated in nearly alltests, but people still buy bottled water :p wtf

because bottle water pwnz:p

its fresh, clean and clear and has no limescale or anything.

tap water is the crapness...

unless your up north or somewhere, where the water is fresh and cold from tap..

bottled water just tastes nicer in my opinion

also, tap water in liverpool (maybe everywhere up north) just tastes a hell of a lot nicer than tap water in bristol. im told it is because the water is harder down here.

anyway, as to whether it is recycled or not, i have no idea. but if it is, ive been drinking it for 18 years and im still alive, so it cant be dangerous!

Plus the fluorine they use is good for your teeth and bones. And hey, cancer is a small price to pay for a set of sturdy nashers

good luck with that :p

^^ yeah but you save loads on toothpaste as well. Who drinks fizzy bottled water? my wife and kids do, and even soda stream it themselves. drives me nuts as i prefer to drink cow juice.

:rotfl:

The problem with drinking bottled water is becasue it is clean...

Tap water gets nutrients put in it to keep us healthy...

People who soly drink bottled water don't get enough nutrients.. therefore not as healthy! ;)

Since when are nutrients not present in anything but tap water?! :D

There are added stuff in tap water.. which is taken away in bottled water.

To be honest, I have forgotten what it is that is taken away.

I think is some sort of bacteria.. :p

I thought all water was recycled

I just thought it went round in a big cycle.

Out the tap

Through the body

Down the toilet

Treated

Out the tap

You catch the drift.

You are correct.

This is why I get annoyed at people saying "Oh, your wasting water"... when theres an unlimited supply.. :)

We just have to wait for it to fall.. or convert sea water! ;)
