Recover formatted data

With regards to my never ending PC problems (mostly caused by myself ), I've brought on another problem!

Last night after I installed my new mobo on the same windows install as my other one, I wanted to backup a few things to put on my slave. My slave contains all my backup, videos, pictures and music....

While reinstalling Windows I don't know how it happened (may be down to my noobness, tiredness or my crazy pc ) but for some reason the slavegot formatted.

Anyone know of any good free format recovery software I can use to get as much of it back as possible? Also, how long does it take??

I don't know of any free software that is going to help you mate. You are more than likely going to have to send it in to a lab for data recovery if youre dead set on getting the info back off of it. Be advised it's expensive as all get out for this service.

You do a quick or full format?

Full format.

If I'm about to format one of my drives, I'll physically disconnect the other one so this type of thing doesn't happen

This is how I did it before, but I didn't think there was a need to this time !!

Thanks Fraggles, I'll take a look :). As long as I have some of the data, it's better than losing it all! It wasn't too important but there is a bit of irreplacable photoshop work and camera pics :(

I'm trying a few different programs here. Timmy - About that 'Getback' software, do you have to purchase it?

Undelete didn't find anything :(

Thanks for the help guys. Getback didnt get anything much back for me :(

I'm gonna have a look at that killdisk now.
