Recommended wattage for 4960k and 970

Hello everyone!

The time has finally come! I decided that the long wait shall not be prolonged, even despite it could potentially be beneficial, as according to rumors amd is going to release their new line of gpus next month. Anyways, something tells me that wont affect polish market too much, and knowing fairly high operating temps of amd cards, I probably wont be interested in their offerings anyway.

So, without further a due, let me ask you one question:
What do you think would be recommended wattage for a psu that is going to power i5 4690k as well as gtx 970? I would like the PSU to have some headroom for mild overclocking (cpu will be cooled by nh-u14s so I probably wont be able to push it crazy far (besides I never played around with overclocking). GPU will be gainward's phantom (so I am not exactly sure what oc capabilities it has). I'll be grateful for any assistance :)

You could easily do it with a decent 450W tbh dude....

Really depends on the brand and the model PSU you are looking at though

If you buy a good quality PSU you can do it with 450w.
If you add another GPU later on for SLI, you'll need about 650w.

I personally like Seasonic PSUs.
I'm sure that others will have recommendations for you too.

Hmm, unfortunately seasonics arent as widely available in Poland as I'd like.
Anyways, I'll most likely be getting something with gold efficiency, so that should mean quality in itself. I thought about purchasing a 650w super flower psu, although I dont really like the grill in this psu. Bit difficult to clean because of that. And with 5 years warranty which seems to be standard for gold rated psus I will definitely have to clean it a few times. So it would be cool if I could do it without voiding the warranty :)

I was unaware of where you live.
Is there a website where you buy goods?

Maybe we can look at what's there and recommend?

morele.net is a good place. Although it seems to be offline at this very point in time. Anyways, could you name any good psu from the top of your head with gold or platinum rating and 750/650w? Especially ones in which fan turns on after psu heats up or reaches heavier load.

Be Quiet & Corsair are brands that I trust.

I've heard some corsair psus can whine. As for be quiet, their units are priced competitively which addition with terrible cables is a bad combination. I think I'll grab super flower PSU, either with 650 or 750w. With such big headroom, there is a chance the fan wont spin at all, thus pretty much eliminating the problem of psu getting dirty.

You also cant go wrong with Superflower I am so happy with mine compared to the Corsair GS 800 as that had whine I could hear it through my headset. TTL done a review of the Superflower 650W my fan doesnt spin at all and I am running an AMD CPU Along with a power hungry R9 290x GPU

take a look and see what you think :) hope it helps
