Hey all

I've just decided to rejoin the folding community to do what I can. I got the ps3 going easy enough. Now for the PC..I have a q6600 and a 5850. I remember you used to only be able to use and not the other. Also being power observant, which is the most efficient? Also if like before, GPU folding would mean you could not game, SMP folding also used to take a lot of performance from the PC. Is this still the case?

As for the GPU folding, yup unfortunatly still the same thing.

for the SMP not so much, I have found no performance drop in games while running it. And mine is maxing out my C2D, so no open threads or anything.

I get the same while gaming, doesn't affect it one bit, which is really handy.

Depends on the game with SMP I can play Assassins Creed Brotherhood no probs while doing SMP but PPD does drop a bit some games don't like it at all Bulletstorm for example you can still play but it lags.

If you use the V7 client you can set CPU usage so that could be useful, you could set CPU usage to 50/75% whilst gaming then turn it back up when you are not gaming.

Will it add my ps3 work units to my profile? I have a key for the smp folding, but there isnt such an option on the ps3 to add a key. Will i still get the credit for them? I'll leave it on all day to see anyway

yep, it will still count towards your points

the SMP needs it for the Quick Return Bonus (the uniprocessor client will be using this function the future as well).

So aslong as the rest of your info is the same (name/teamnumber) you should be ready to go

Doesn't really matter, they still use the same cores so the performance is equal (perhaps even better on the V6 as there is less overhead) but the v7 has the FahControl which makes life somewhat easier. Having said that, on my main rig I haven't switched

I only installed it on a new one.
