Recommend me a HD. 100-150GB FAST

lol at RAMdisks. An on mobo internal setup loses all data everytime the pc is off. PCI/Drive bay ram disks aren't as fast but have a backp disk and possibly a 2.5" HD in built. They tend to be limited to under 32GB and are sensetive to losing power unless there is an internal power source. They are also about £2000+ for 16GB-32GB.

Hey guys, sorry about forgetting this thread for a bit... (I have hardly any cash ATM but I've been too long with this limited space and I need to upgrade)
The Samsung F1 looks like a good choice now.
Is it still the one to go for other than SSD and raptors? (which are a bit too expensive now compared to performance/space, thanks for showing me)
And is there any difference between the 750GB and the 1TB other than the capacity? I can't seem to see any differences on the spec pages but I never really trust them...
I would rather get the 750GB (that's still a insaneeee amount for me).
The only reason I ask is because someone said that the 1TB has more data density per platter (more packed into one part of the platter) so the times will be faster?!?

It's been debated whether the 750GB uses 250GB platters or 334GB platters firmware disabled. I'm not sure whether it was ever confirmed either way. Honestly, I think the WD 640GB would be your best option

Technex, I have been using raptors in raid 0 for a long time I am very much a big fan have never had any failures or corruption, have now got 2x velociraptors in raid 0 and these are a good improvement there quieter and faster there performance is unriaveled all but by the new intel SSD's wich still lack storage space... read through this debate http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=26158
p.s if you need more space RAID 0 is your answer, I have never ever ever heard of these, or had any of my raptor drives fail...ever the RAID 0 unreliable debate is a load of $hit so long as you have good drives such as these!!!!!

I have been very impressed by my 320GB single platter WD hard disk, the 640 is the same technology, just with two platters. I think if you want three platters (i.e. 750GB or 1TB) go for the 1TB because of the higher density and greater capacity for about £10 more. They are not what you could call expensive at £60 ish inc vat.

Yeah good point, I'll just go for the 1TB one as it isn't that much more, it'll never be used but if it's faster it'll be worth it.
So are we agreeing this is the best choice for gaming minus the SSD and the raptor series (which are very nice and that just a bit expensive).
