Recommend me a cooler?

So back to folding once again and I forgot just how warm this GTX470 gets under load. So with that being said, I am officially in the market for a new cooler. I have a ASUS branded card if that makes a difference and the stock cooler just isn't seeming to keep up with the mass amounts of heat this card is pumping out.

Suggestions?

Here is a photo of the card if that helps at all.

Stamps some of the newer GPU WU's are huge in atom count and computation intensity, much more so than you saw previously. I would be sure all is clean and go back to default clocks and redevelop your overclock on your 470. I do know that good total ventilation, not just GPU cooling, is paramont in displacing all of the heat generated by these newer WU's

Will probably do that this weekend. Last weekend I took the air compressor to the case, but I think it's probably time to pull apart the card and make sure nothing is living in the HS. It probably wouldn't hurt to apply some AS5 to the core instead of the stock stuff either.

Actually, I'd go for something non-conductive like MX-2 instead of AS5.

As for the cooler, I was once in the exact same position you were in, with an ASUS GTX470 that got very hot indeed. I opted for the Zalman VF3000F, and I never had any regrets. Looks a lot better than the Arctic stuff, comes with a fan controller and performs great.

Edit: found a picture in my old rig thread..

Doesn't that cooler throw a lot of the air back into the case? If it does, that troubles me because I am using a H50 in push/pull and I would imagine that would heat up the radiator quite a big more no?

Looks good, what are temps like? thinking of getting it for my gtx460 SC, as it pumps out serious heat. Don't know if it will fit as its not a blower type stock cooler, its the one with a big fan in the middle

I have one on my 580 and it does dump a ton of heat into the case but temps on the gpu/cpu only go up a few C with the side panel on tho.

Im unsure if its this WU im getting atm or what (wu 8033) but my temps are around 75c with it about just off of minimum and thats by far the hottest ive seen it since i got it on Thursday, in Skyrim with a ton of visual mods, BF3 on ultra and Furmark with a ton of settings turned up it never went over around 65c.

If you can live with a bunch of noise its ALOT cooler when you ramp the fans on it up to max but it started getting on my nerves within 30 seconds so i had to turn it down, i can live with it on around 25-35% from minimum tho it is still louder than im used to/like.

Having owned a geiled icy vision, artic cooling accelero extreme 2 and this vf3000 the geiled/AC are alot quieter at 100% for sure, but i cant give a direct comparison as they were on a 5870, 8800gt and GTX580 respectively, Im pretty sure the reviews ive seen for the coolers tho give a direct comparison to atleast one other for temps on what ever card they use for the review so a little google work should show whats the best out of the 3.

Either way i can live with the few deg more on my cpu for a silent and/or cooler gpu under load.

EDIT: Just checked it and its on a 7640 WU and temps have dropped back in line with before and is sitting at 66c, cpu temp is only 1c above its usual max when the gpu isnt on.

FoodStampz is back? Well, crap.

I knew there was a reason I had an urge several days ago to turn the Folding back on... only on one box part time right now, but as always, we'll see

I have an Arctic Accelero Twin Turbo II on my 560 Ti and while it's not the best looking cooler it does an amazing job at keeping the card cool. All of the heat does go back into the case but its not a 80c heat blast, so it doesn't bother me any.... and it's silent.
