RCA to VGA input

Today, I tried to connect the rca yellow cable from my camera that I have hooked up outside of my house... to a rca to vga adapter that i tried to connect to my dad's monitor. every time i try to set it to the vga mode on the monitor, it would always tell me that there is no input signal. so i decided to try it with my ps2 on my monitor, still nothing was detected. is this something that can't be done?

I know this may sound like a stupid suggestion, but are you sure that the camera is in a mode to output a image. Sometimes you have to go into a play menu within a camera to get it to actually output a signal.
They are both analogue connections so I can't see why it would not work otherwise. Maybe the monitor does not support such a low resolution input. Normally a composite video cable is used with resolutions of 640x480.

It is capable of displaying output, since i've had two "tv" monitors hooked up to it, both displaying the output... Although, the resolution maybe the case for why it isn't displaying... since the monitor is at 1600x900. i'll look for the camera's native resolution. thanks :)
