Razer Blackwidow not working after update.

I updated the firmware on my Razer Blackwidow and now it does not work... I have tried changing the firmware again from 1.04 all the way up to 1.08
I have also tried uninstalling all Razor drivers, etc, then re-installing them again as well as on other computers. The only way to get the keyboard recognised is to hold the Fn key while plugging in the USB.

I had a similar issue with my Razer Mamba. I had to uninstall all the razer software and drivers to get my mouse working again.

They really need to work on their firmware updating stuff it seems really flakey.

But mine won't work at all even after uninstalling and re-installing everything. Straight after it 'Updates the firmware' it disconnects itself...
 
Hate to say it but welcome to owning a Razer product. Had the exact same thing happen to mine updating it to 1.06 afterwards the keyboard literally bricked, I ended up returning it. Also had a Razer lycosa mouse laser die after 2 weeks of use. I'll never buy another Razer product again.
 
When my Razer Mamba wouldn't work after the firmware update I found out that it wouldn't come out of DFU mode. Basically to do the firmware update you have to load a different driver so that the firmware updater can read/write to the flash memory on the mouse.

My issue was after that had completed I couldn't get the mouse to stop using the firmware updaters DFU Mode driver so every time the mouse or its wireless docking station was connected to the PC nothing would happen because it would just load up the wrong driver.

What I had to do was remove that driver from my system entirely and then reinstall the Razer default Mouse drivers to get it to properly detect the Human Interface Driver from Razer so it could be used as a mouse again.

Now obviously I don't have the keyboard I don't know if it has this DFU mode like my mouse does but maybe this is applicable to your situation.

I have kinda the same problem. I used the black widow on my laptop and it won't recognize it anymore. Well the windows installer works and razer synapse detects it and updates the firmware. This happens every time I restart the laptop it updates the firmware all the time. The num led is glowing even the razer logo is glowing but the keyboard is useless since no buttons seem to work. I tried almost everything from reinstalling all drivers and installing older firmware versions this piece of shit doesn't work anymore...

Deleted all traces of Razer software/products. Held the Fn key while plugging it in. Continued to hold down the Fn key while I installed the latest "Synapse" version. While installing Synapse I installed the oldest firmware I could find (v1.05) then applied that firmware update to the keyboard while it was downloading drivers for it. Had to restart multiple times and when the system restarted I unplugged the keyboard then held Fn while I plugged it in again.

All this took about half an hour or more. Then finally it told me to restart (again...), so I did and BAM! Blue light came on and it worked! Magic, luck, skill, who knows...?

Nice one :). It may have been a combination of them all :p, but glad you got it working.
 
Thanks. It was funny though because I was about to give up and this was going to be my last try and low-and-behold, I got it to work.

Life lesson of the day; Keep on trying.
 
I don't know if you tried this, and no I'm not crazy (my mother had me tested :P ), but try a different USB port.

I had a mouse that ONLY worked if it was plugged into a certain USB port.
 
That is weird. Maybe something just hiccuped when it was installing the new firmware. Ive been using Razer products for a while now and have never had that happen. Good to know though in case I ever need to try it.
 
Well, I got a Blackwidow Ultimate a few months ago for $100 and I can say it is MUCH better than the standard Blackwidow. Better key caps, backlighting is incredible, and zero problems so far.
