Hi there,

Just joined the forum as I have found many of the OC3D videos both entertaining and useful. I have come back to the PC world again after many years out. Before January of this year, the last rig I built was in 2008 which I mustered up over many months to feed my gaming habit. After a couple of years I went to Mac (shame on me?) but decided to sell up and build my own PC again (I got bored of the MacBook Pro turning volcanic every time I opened Skype, YouTube videos or did anything other than it being idle).

Built it up in January of this year with the following components:

i5 3570k (4.2GHz, cooled by a Noctua NH-D14)
16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz RAM (2x 8GB )
Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD (Boot + Apps)
Corsair Nova 2 60GB SSD (Just for Diablo 3... It runs awful on a hard drive)
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm HDD (Steam, personal files, other such things)
Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Motherboard
Corsair 850TX PSU
GTX 670 2GB GPU
HAF X nVidia tower filled to the brim with fans (surprisingly quiet, however) Possibly soon to be replaced by a Cooler Master Cosmos 2

Went with the Logitech G19 for my keyboard and the Logitech G700 for my mouse, they work quite well, not found anything wrong with them (as of yet!).

Does the job for what I want it to do and does it perfectly, so decided to not throw a bajillion pounds worth of components inside

welcome :) a whole SSD for diablo 3? lucky game ^_^

Well, initially the 60GB SSD was my boot drive but it was getting terrible I/O speeds (for an SSD) so I picked up the 840 Pro to replace it, and rather than chucking the Corsair SSD I thought I'd put it to use :P Diablo 3 stutters horrifically on mechanical drives :( Works great on the SSD though!

Update the firmware on the ssd if possible.. should help out with performance. Also i do not recommend a Cosmos 2 upgrade over a HAF X. Personally i would go with a NZXT Switch 810 over those two without hesitation. They're other cases i would suggest if you're interested:)

The first thing I did was look for firmware updates for the SSD, however there doesn't seem to be any at all, even checked the controller manufacturer (Phison) to no avail. The reason I was looking at the Cosmos 2 is purely because I love the looks (the NZXT tower is too boxy for my liking).

The switch is boxy but that window is such a beautiful sight :p

All cases are based on boxes... so are buildings.. Are they too boxy for you? lol
Only other case that doesn't look boxy would be the 600T from corsair.

I looked at the 600T a few weeks back but later decided otherwise. Each to their own on the matter of cases really, I just love the Cosmos 2 ;)
