I've been saving for a while cos my old case, and cpu cooler was very poor.It was a Lian li pc7fn and a Prolimatech Samuel. My temps were awful 47deg at idle.
So I ordered myself a Silverstone Raven rv-03,and a Thermalright silver arrow extreme.I chose the rv-03 over the -02 as I don't like the position of the psu on the -02,and The raven over all cos I decided to stick with air cooling over water, due to cost and upkeep.
The raven was the perfect choice for me as it as plenty of fan options and it is designed with the sole purpose of hot air rises.
the choice of cooler was easy,as other than the Noctua it is about the best there is,and the color isn't hideous.
I also added an NZXT senrty mix fan controller, white led strip, and cable extensions.A pair of Noctua nfp12's for the front, with there not being a lot of room for air to enter they seemed the best choice.I also added a 3rd 140mm Thermalright TY-147 to the cooler. And I threw in a Lian li fan I had knocking about for a rear intake, and kept the standard 2,180mm air penetrators in the bottom, and the 120 exhaust up top.
I wasn't sure about installing a fan on the back panel behind the cpu,but as I had a lepa chopper I threw it in,I'm suprised that it lowers the temp by about 2deg.
After a good 12 hours of fitting I finally got it buttoned up.It took so long as I really wanted to take my time and get the cables nice and tidy without having to go in and out of the case sorting it out.Mission acomplished,I think apart from the vga,and 24 in cables need to be tidied up a bit.Although there is loads of room for cable management round back it still is a pain in the arse down to the mobo being rotated 45deg.All in all I'm chuffed, with the outcome.just need to save now for the MSI mpower mobo and either a 2nd 7850,or a single more powerful card,I might wait for the 8000 series cards to be released.Any thoughts peeps?Sorry for the shoddy pics I've run out of batteries for my camera.
