Hi

I just got an email from Paypal saying I sent some money to ebay support uk, I recently sold some stuff on Ebay, is this ebay/paypal taking their cut? Or is this some error. I asked paypal support but the response was just generic and it says they have limited staff due to this virus.

They would charge your paypal within the month of sale check in your ebay account and see if the amount is the same.

Well I sold something on Feb 20th, then I have sold 3 things since then and was out of the blue charged this morning. No explanation given either.

Guess it depends on when you sold things, sometimes if an item doesnt fall in the same date your get charged again for the rest the next month

Did you log into your paypal account and check to see if they really charged you? This is a super common email scam. Don't click on any of the links in the email.

PayPal should be taking their cut once the payment from the buyer has come through. It's an immediate and automatic withdrawal.

It takes up to 15 days for the buyer payment to go through so that could have been it. You'll need to check all your invoices.

This may well be a legit case, but I figured I would say something any way. There are A LOT of Paypal scam emails being sent out right now.

Just so you know, be careful. I just log into my account and notice the email is BS.

I got quite a few scam emails for PayPal recently. I would recommend using Privacy instead of your real credit card.

Check your PayPal account, if the charge is listed, then it's genuine.
Some context, eBay invoice you each month for final value fees on anything you sell; they take the payment about 2 weeks later. So, anything you may sell at the end of Feb which is after the invoice date for that month will get invoiced in March instead and paid accordingly.

As Alien said, there's a lot of PayPal scams going around so if you get an email, just log into your account as normal and see whether there's anything there.

No it's definitely legit and not a scam. I guess it's just the fees. Ok I found the invoice email I must've missed it.

Not to take over your thread here, but on this subject and hope you don't mind...

If you purchase an item and you look in your currency both the item price and the shipping cost, adds up to say $900. Just for the sake of it, why does it say in my bank account that the purchased amount is $920 instead? Are those $20 PayPal's cut of the deal or what?...

I never see that. Sounds like an additional charge put in. If PP took a cut, it would be specified. But thats when selling.
