I just got a new graphics card the Radeon HD 7870 and i keep seeing random artifacts show up on my screens but it only happens when i'm browsing the web or going through my hard drives, it never happens when I'm playing games. What could it be?

Hmm could be the drivers? Have you tried removing them completely with driver sweeper and then re-installing them? have you made sure you have the latest driver versions? We could also have a better chance of helping you if you list all you system specs please.

I could try to wipe the drivers and reinstall them and yes i do have the latest drivers.

Specs:
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX
CPU: AMD Phenom ii X4 1035T
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 OC edition
RAM: 8GB Mushkin DDR3 1600MHz
PSU: Thermaltake Purepower 500

Please try that, and come back, tell us how's things.

Problem. I uninstalled the driver now my computer goes in a bsod cycle

When is the BSOD happening? When Windows starts booting? You should try and put your graphics card in another computer see how it behaves there.

I had a problem like this when I flashed the wrong bios on my slave core of my graphics card.

It happens when it's on the windows boot logo and I have no other computer to try it in I started it in safe mode and I'll try and fix it from there

It seems that you have a problem there... Lets not start pointing fingers at the graphics card just yet. Try to re-seat it in the PCI-E slot or if you have another slot try putting it there and see if that makes any difference.

god, dont uninstall graphics drivers if you dont know how :S

sabertooth doesnt have igp does it?

sigh.... if you have your instalation disc somewhere you can run fix using it

or if you get past bios with display then boot into safe mode, it should ignore the drivers and use default ones it can find. then just re-install them in there if you can.

a new retail card shouldnt artifact no matter the circumstance, atm its pointless until you sort out the drivers bsod issue but what artifacts are they, did you check your monitor connection? checked that it sits in the slot properly?

also drivers wouldnt cause artifact on low gpu usage anyways.

a 500w should handle the load as well

hmmm :s

I know how to uninstall drivers just it asked for a restart and stays in bsod and it doesn't allow me to install the drivers in safe mode as it doesn't detect anything my.monitor is connected fine I'm going to see if it is sitting in properly than I'll try a new slot

probably not related but how are your temps? cpu and gpu aswell as did you stable test your cpu?

changing slot shouldnt make a difference either :/

WAIT! sabertooth does actually have a igp, hook that up and then re-install the amd drivers

Intergrate Graphics Processor

i.e. that terrific gpu they stick on mobos just for the sake of it.

on the mobo io you will see (most likely vga) a video output, hook the monitor to that, unless you're crazy and deleted them aswell you should be able to display just fine since they have separate drivers(i think so atleast :3)

No mine doesn't have one I'll try hooking up my old gpu

If you had an IGP there was a chance to boot your computer off it with your graphics card in the PCI-E slot and try install the drivers from there ( not sure if it's possible ) .

oh i was looking at z77, my bad

old gpu shouldn't make a difference if you still have no drivers.

easiest thing to do is to probably find the windows disc and run repair(not sure if it will fix it) or restore the drivers before you deleted them, assuming you have made one before.
