RAM holding my OC back?

I know it's probably not going to happen but i'm wondering if anyone has had any (even a small amount) of success oc'ing some Mushking DDR2 800 ram. I got 8 gigs of it in an entry level rig that I am overclocking to learn my way around a bit more and it seems to be the limiting factor. I never intended to OC when I built it but now that I have it's been a ton of fun.

I've had my q9550 at 3.7 on air (thank you Noctua NH-d14)P-95 stable for 16 hrs now and can't get it any higher. Mobo is a Gigabyte P35 and Vcore is 1.28125 and mb I can go lower. I've tried as high as 1.3V+ with no luck.

I've tried loosening timings/overvolting but can't get it stable over 872 MHz so at this point I'm pretty sure its my entry level RAM. If anyone has had success I'd love to know what they did.

is it 2x4gb or 4x2gb? if its 4x2gb try taking 2 of the sticks out and having another go, my old ocz gold didnt like going over 860mhz with 4x1gb in but with 2x1gb it would go all the way to 1090mhz on stock volts/timings on my asus p35

yeah it's 4 x 2Gb. I was afraid that having all 4 slots filled might be a problem. I'll take out two sticks and see what I can do--even if only to see what happens when I do. I think i'd miss the 8Gbs of RAM though on a day to day basis. I'll need to open up my rig soon anyhow and mb i'll try it then.

cheers

I heard it bottlenecks having it over both channels instead of just 1, but still on air you're not doing half bad with your oc
