Firstly I have set up a RAID0 set up without an problems before but

I recently started to put together a new system

Phenom II 955 BE

Asrock 890GX Extreme3

2 x 500G Western Digital Caviar Black

4 GB G.Skill PC3- 12800

I set up RAID0 Through the bios and utility as usual but when i went to install windows 7 it could not find the HDD

and Windows setup can see both the drives while not in RAID

I was wondering if someone has experienced similar issues and/or could give me advice on how to get over this hurdle.

An help would be greatly appriceiated

Ummm have you changed the bios, since set up the RAID? I assume you did the ctr-i to set up the raid. I often find that if my bios/overclock fails, my bios reset to default, thus changing from Raid to the default setting.

It sounds like you need to load the RAID driver during Windows Setup. It should see the controller then.

Thanks for the replies

I Haven't Yet Overclocked the computer as I have only just put it together and I'm wait for my cooler to come in the post, but when we went back into the bios after unsuccessfully being able to install windows 7

it still was in RAID

I think hmmblah is correct in saying it is a driver issue as this was my first thought

But i really have no idea how to get the driver which I guess is on?? Motherboards support CD??

How would I go about installing Drivers so that I can install windows???

You need to locate the raid driver on the OEM dvd. Then copy the inf files to a USB stick if you're using 7. If not, you need a floppy drive and disk.

When you load up Windows will say no disk drives found (or no physical disk drives or summat) at that point you can browse for a driver. Make sure you have the correct driver as X64 X86 are not backward compatible. After loading the driver your two drives (if in RAID 0) should appear as one 1tb lump to install onto.

I put the OEM disk into my computer and copied the drivers onto my usb, the windows installation loaded the drivers and still couldn't see the HDD (After refreshing the list). I have also tried getting the drivers off the Asrock site but the same thing happened.

- Very Fustrating

Considering just using them as just two separate drives.
