i have a raid 0 in my machine, however i have a stupid question but it needs answering, if i was to unplug one of the HDD in the raid (machine turned off of course) then plugging it back in in a different hdd tray, would this effect the raid? ie would i loose all the data within the raid.

And yes i have posted this in the Raid thread but unsure of an answer

Thanks

I'd wait to double check from someone else as well, but I'm fairly sure I've done that before on my SSDs.

Wait for a second opinion though if I were you!

If all you're doing is switching trays it won't affect the raid. I think it would only affect the config if you use a different SATA port (not 100% sure on this, but I'm pretty sure).

Yeah all im doing is moving the hdd into 1 of my 2 trays, as ssd will be arriving tomorow, so ill put my raid drives in the trays. and yeah they will be in the same sata ports. so hopefully ill be ok, don't want to re download 800gb of games :O

most raid implementation's don't work via the physical port the drive is connected to rather they put identifying data on the disk. it should be able to pick up the drive like nothing happened maybe write something out to the log saying the drive has physically moved.
