Raid or not

pretty sure im going to do it anyway but wanted to hear some opinions from you guys.
Just bought a new SSD. its a Sandisk 240, not great but it'll do. I am using an OCZ agility 3 atm (it was only £140 when i got it 6 years ago) its done well but its now in the petabytes of write and i wanted to get another before it does die (not that it is showing any signs yet, touch wood). But shall i raid them or do 2 separate drives?
Its only going to have games and OS on it as i have a secondary with everything else on it and thats being upgraded to a 4tb when i can be bothered. So im not worried about reliability of the partition if it fails it fails.
So do you guys think im better off installing OS onto the new one and then putting the OCZ as just a game drive or putting them into partition?
I think that I am going down the stripe route unless you guys can convince me otherwise

Not recommended at all, unless it's set up as a JBOD array. Raid 0 and raid 1 arrays really do need identical drives.

cool I thought it was a good idea to try but i'll just use it as a secondary drive

cheers

Got two mechanical drives in Raid 0 and two ssd's in raid 0, none of them are from the same manufacturer and im seeing double throughput speeds.

Give it a try, just dont store any important data on them in case things go tits up !!

I think if it's the same size drive and same speed drive, you should be fine.

It still works quite well even on odd sized drives.

I did it last year on a couple of odd mech laptop drives. Odd sizes but it just configured the array with the smaller drive as the size for each. I saw decent speed boosts.
