RAID 0 Windows install problem

Hi

I'v just got my second 240GB SSD and wanted to RAID them and reinstall Windows. After reading 10 different guides I managed to set up the RAID and get on with the install. When I got to the point where you choose the drive you want to install the OS to the Windows Setup wont let me install to my RAID, so I loaded the RAID drivers off another USB and it still wont let me install...

Any RAID experts out there know what I'm doing wrong?

Relevant specs:
i7 3820
Rampage IV Formula
Intel 530 240GB
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
Windows 8.1 on a USB stick

Hey there,

Just a thought but did you remember to setup a partition before-hand? What about in the bios did you set it to raid? Many more questions, but too lazy at the moment.

Lastly why use RAID 0 on 2 SSD's, there is pretty much nothing to gain from it, while introducing additional risk to your data, not to mention your SSD is 240GB which should be more than enough on its own...

EDIT: Have you bothered researching RAID at all? As it would seem you are trying to RAID 2 different SSDs...

I was going to say the same thing... I dont know much about raid, but dont you basically need 2 of the same drive? (speed/size etc)

well in theory it could function, however it wouldnt be stable. different size is also fine depending on the specific RAID setup.

OP please go and at least do some research i.e the basics before you make a thread, as the help given here is free. that is of course if you havent already done so.
