The Inquirer said:GRAPHICS CHIP firm ATI published an interesting press release yesterday, which was not received in the usual way.
Instead of spinners spinning the inbox, the announcement was reported to us by an ATI shareholder, who frequently visits the Investor Relations part of the site.
The release was actually an announcement that ATI Technologies and TSMC have entered volume production of "multiple 90 nanometre (nm) products... including the Radeon® X1800, Radeon® X1600 and Radeon® X1300 series chips".
Judging by the content, ATI actually plans to have most if not all products available on the last day of September.
Now, if the RV515/530 are in volume production only now, it is hard to imagine that ATI should have couple of hundreds of thousands of chips available at launch. Or has TSMC surpassed itself?
If this is true.. it r0x0rz! We get to see some real benchies from real people instead of made up crap and all you ATI fanboys out there who got the X850 over the 7800GTX when you had PCI-E can get a next-gen upgrade
