Hey all,
Recently I upgraded my case to a Corsair 200R (plastic window version). It comes with two stock fans: one in front of the case and the other at the rear. I'm still using a stock CPU fan because I haven't decided which fan to get yet, and I'm not doing heavy gaming atm.
Here is a bit of my PC spec's just FYI, and all at stock config (set a fan curve for my GPU though)
CPU: i5-2320
GPU: Sapphire 7950 Boost, 1080p monitor
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower ST 650W Gold
My RAM is 2x 4GB ADATA 1333 MHz low-profile, they won't pose any obstruction to the CPU cooler at all and I don't plan to upgrade them atm.
The climate here in Singapore is equatorial tropical so ambient is usually about 30C.
Idle temps are about 39C for GPU, 43C on the hottest CPU core.
Not sure what would be best to find the load temps, but on Unigine Heaven Ultra benchmarks, highest GPU temp's about 70C and 67C on CPU.
EDIT: Just did a quick run on Saints Row 3 at high-ultra settings, GPU temps seem to max out at 64C, but CPU temps as high as 67C
I also noticed that there's this weird rattling/vibrating sound from my case at 100% load situation, presumably from the CPU stock fan...(case fans come with rubber grommets so...)
I'm looking if there's a relatively cheap, quiet but efficient cooler to lower my CPU temp's as much as possible as my money can get (i.e. value for money but not too low performance).
Looking at CM Hyper212X, goes for 56 USD,
but some peeps said HyperTX3 EVO will suffice (it's 36 USD).
Please share your opinions on this, as I'm a n00b in this fan science...
Are there any (better) alternatives?
Do I need more case fans?
There are two more free mounts on the top of the case, but I'm afraid adding more fans would contribute to the noise level without a worthwhile return, so only as a last resort.
Thank you so much for reading!
