Quick Upgrade Question.

Hey peeps, try and cut a long story short, i have the 4870x2 with the Accelero Xtreme cooler, just changed my case which forced me to move my GPU to another slot, which covers all my PCI slots, i have and need the auzentech prelude which requires PCI i've searched high and low for PCI Express soundcards with all the features i need, but none exist, so basically i think i have to upgrade my GPU to something a wee bit smaller 2 slot instead of 3 slot.

The Question:

What kind of performance increase will I see over my current 4870x2 (If any???)compared to say the newer 6970? I can't find any direct comparison, comparing the 4870x2 to the 5870 then the 5870 to the 6970 just seems like Chinese whispers to me!

Hopefully someone will be able to give me some better insight.

i would look at the 570 or the 470.

i no the 4780x2 run hot and they would probly get merced by the cards i mentioned

Yeah I see all the reviews suggest the 570, my only concern is the upgrade wouldn't be noticeable enough to warrant the best part of 3 ton if so I'd rather just get a cheap stop gap card until next summer, I'm sure I'd get some dollar for the current card.

Id deffo go with a 570 or a 6970 depending on where your loyalties are, if it was my money Id be all over a 570 atm though tbh.

Yeah after reading your review I'm inkling toward the 570, what kind of performance increase do you think I'll be looking at over the 4870x2? Any ideas?

Let's see..

5770 = 4870 with DX11 so a 4870x2 ought to push about 16k 3dmarks. 570 pushes well above that and is a single card at about half the temps of a x2.
