Quick Sleeving question

So I'm around half way through sleeving my 24Pin connector on my 1300w Coolermaster (which by the way, if you're sleeving a PSU, I'd avoid in all honesty the PCI-Ex cables are a total **** to get looking half decent), and I've already come across 1 wire which had a main wire of the usual gauge, and a secondary lower gauge one... Is this second wire really necessary ?

I've googled it a bit (before anyone lmgtfy's me) and people seem to think it's a 'Voltage sense' wire ?:huh:? Surely the main wire is a connection what on earth(get it?) is the smaller one needed for?

I've noticed there is a second one on another pin so before I get onto 'part 2' per-se I thought I'd ask the experts, that is you lot So step up

There's also 2 wires twisted together, a grey and a black one.. I hear that's just a 'noise' removing exercise, is this really necessary either?

Yup, this is a voltage-sensing kind of wire. You should do everything you can to keep it in the system, as some power supplies fail to function without it. There's a great guide on double wires out there by Lutro0 if you need help.

I don't understand how it can be in use? There are 2 wires, from one pin to the other pin ? both the same length, just a different gauge......

I've seen ways to split a wire but i'd rather keep it tidy.. I guess I'll just sleeve it then No matter

You're saying it's a 2 to 2 wire right? 2 wires are coming out of one pin on the PSU and going into 1 pin on the motherboard?

1 pin = 2 wires = 1 pin

so it effectively is the same as

1pin - 1 wire - 1pin

Its like it splits and then comes back to the same pin, the same at each end of the cable

It sounds like it couldn't possibly be doing anything useful and I have made my own PSU extensions where I ignored this (assuming I have understood you correctly) and it had no detrimental effect. If you can just get the sleeve over it and leave it alone I would though just in case.

I have the Silent Pro 1200,it too was a pig...

yeah I'm not a fan of those PCI-Ex cables, althought I've finished the 24 Pin now, but too dark for decent pics and I'm draining my loop tomorrow.. so pics will come after that
