Quick question H80 + 3770K

Real quick question, or at least a quick answer is needed.

Tomorrow I'm getting some kit to upgrade my PC. The wife has finally given in and I have to act quick before she finds something else to spend the money on...

After a great many years I'm finally going to swap to Intel from AMD. I'm going to be getting an ASUS Maximus V Formula (without the sound card) an Intel 3770k and I'm thinking of using an H80 with it. I would love to use the H100 but I have a Fractal R3 and there isn't the height in the roof for the H100 and the fans.

The reason for the H series is that I have had all sorts of issues with heat build up in the case. At least with the Corsair cooler all of the CPU heat will be actively dumped out side the case. The pair of 7970 can cook themselves without the CPU chiming in :)

I need a CPU with some more grunt even if it's just to give my 7970's some leg room because the FX 8150 it the worse bottle neck you could imagine. I play ArmA and it runs more slowly with this Crapdozer than it did with my old 1090t

I'm currently using a NF-D14 and it's done a great job but I'm not sure I can find the Intel fittings. So I might as well keep it with the MoBo, CPU for a future project.

So the question, in your opinion will the H80 be up to the task. I'm looking for a moderate OC, nothing silly. Just something 24/7 stable that wont set the house on fire.

Is this just for gaming, or do you render etc?
And well, the H80 would cool such a CPU, but your NH-D14 is better. I have the same case as you, with no heat issue. The 8150 does run hot when overclocked, remember.

Thanks for the quick responses guys...

The heat issue was solved with help for the guys on the forum LINK. All my own fault I got greedy and got a pair of 7970 to add the the thermal discomfort they are XFX R7970 so they are factory OC with none reference coolers that dump their heat inside the case.

The H80 will actively pump the CPU heat outside. I know the D14 is an awesome air cooler but if I'm ever to make use of the crapdozer and it's motherboard for something else I'm going to need the D14 on it.

The question is should I just get another D14 or follow my idea of pumping the hot air out of the case with a hydro cooler? If so is the H80 up the job. I know the H100 will shift enough heat but how much worse is the H80?

On a side note I'm now looking at Toms 400R video cos I know the H100 will fit... I'm going round in circles here... :)
